- Severe and persevering muscle spasms, including those characteristics of multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
- Inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease
- Seizures, including those with similar characteristics as epilepsy
- A terminal illness, with a life expectancy of less than one year
